CIE Electronics successfully completes cable assembly manufacturing and supply contracts for VentilatorChallengeUK.
Following the UK Government and NHS call for medical ventilators to address the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, specialist AV and electronics distributor CIE-Group has successfully completed multiple contracts to supply custom-built cables and electronic components to the VentilatorChallengeUK consortium.
Over the 3 month lockdown period, CIE re-focussed much of their resources to support the critical manufacturing supply chain producing essential medical ventilators.
Supplying directly to key VentilatorChallengeUK members including Penlon, McLaren, Ford, Airbus and Jaguar LandRover, CIE has now supplied over a quarter of a million bespoke cable assemblies and connectivity units in record time to meet the demands on the NHS during the pandemic.
'We are extremely proud to have successfully completed our contracts and to have supported the critical supply chain for VentilatorChallengeUK.'
CIE were approached by the Consortium to provide high volume critical electronic components for both existing ventilator models and approved new designs, requiring the CIE team to design, source, manufacture and deliver non-standard video and control cable assemblies in extraordinarily short time frames.
CIE Electronics account manager Lauren Froggatt said; "It's been an exciting challenge for us, having produced in excess of 250,000 cables - from initial tooling to product delivered to the factories - all within a very tight 2 month window.
"We are extremely proud to have successfully completed our contracts and to have supported the critical supply chain for VentilatorChallengeUK. It's been an honour for the CIE team to have played our small part in helping to alleviate the suffering in the UK resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic."
CIE-Electronics is acknowleged by the UK Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy as a supplier to Ventilator Manufacture.
The VentilatorChallengeUK is a consortium of major UK technology, manufacturing and engineering companies who have joined together to help meet the UK Government's and NHS' urgent requirements for medical ventilators during the current COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Companies within the VentilatorChallengeUK consortium received formal orders from the UK Government to manufacture and supply in excess of 15,000 medical ventilators at the very earliest opportunity.
In response to the NHS' challenge to treat unprecedented numbers of patients suffering with the coronavirus, many leading manufacturers, engineers, designers and medical equipment experts are prioritising the production and supply of these vital ventilators to serve the national need.
